Getting in Shape with Bender Ball

Posts Tagged ‘workout

When exercising in the summer, whether it is with your Bender Ball or playing a game of basketball, tennis, or whatever your favorite outdoor sport is, it is important to remember that because of the increased ambient heat of summer, combined together with increased exercise, your body must work harder to maintain its inner temperature of 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit.

The body has a few mechanisms to keep cool as the heat rises, whether through climbing outdoor temperatures, or exercise, or both.  The body stays cool by increasing the circulation of blood closer to the skin so that heat is removed more readily, but this decreasing the amount of blood available to the muscles for exercise. This in turn increases the rate of the heart.  There is also more stress on the body in places where humidity is high, because perspiration, which cools the body when the moisture evaporates off the body, has a harder time evaporating in higher humidity.

Let’s talk a bit about why we exercise. Of course we do it to look great and feel good, but what is really going on in our bodies that make having a regular work-out routine so important? One answer is that we do it for our heart. It is important to keep our hearts strong, and since the heart is a muscle, giving it regular exercise can make a big difference to its health. Here’s a brief rundown on what the essential concerns are related to your exercise routine:

1. Exercise usually refers to rhythmic activities that get your heart beating a bit faster. Those activities can include walking, running, biking, and swimming. The goal should be to get your heart rate into your “target heart rate zone.” Pick an activity that you enjoy so that you will be more inclined to continue with it.

2. Exercise should be conducted at a moderate intensity, meaning that you should reach about 60% to 70% of your maximum heart rate. This can be translated into what is called “Perceived Exertion Scale, where level 1 is sitting in front of the TV munching down some chips, and level 9 is “I am most likely going to die,” and level 10 is “I am dead.” Moderate intensity, as we mentioned above is about level 4 to 6, where level 4 is “sweating a bit, but feel good and can talk without effort.” Level 5 is “Just beyond comfortable, sweating a bit more and can still talk.” And level 6 is “Still able to talk, but a bit breathless.” Sneaking in a few higher intensity bursts for short amounts of time are good. The best kind of workout incorporates a mixture of intensities. This keeps things more interesting and is a great way to exercise.

My wife and I are thinking about taking a little trip, maybe up to the mountains for the weekend, or maybe we’ll even go for a week with the kids. One thing I’m really glad about is that I dont have to worry about my exercise routine, because it is so easy to take the Bender Ball along. And since we only need to do our cruches about 10 minutes each day, it will be easy to take the time out of our sightseeing and relaxing for a few minutes of my enjoyable Bender Ball workout. My wife feels the same way. I feel so lucky that I found this easy, fast and effective way to exercise.

I’m sorry to say, that I lost my job. But there is a bright side to this situation. My wife is still working, I am getting unemployment insurance, and I have a bit saved to cover us until I find another job, which I hope will be better than the last one, which was starting to make me crazy. I think part of the reason I was eating so much was because my boss was driving me crazy, and I was too depressed to do my exercises regularly. So now I have a chance at a fresh start.

So what am I gonna do? I’m gonna get my bender ball back from my kids and start working out with it like I was doing a few months ago. I hope my break from working will give me a chance to really get the look I want, and the good health that my doctor and my wife say is so important. Wish me luck.

I am working on my physique and trying to lose weight. It is slow going. since I am having trouble controlling my eating, but the exercises themselves are doing wonders.
No time to write – gotta go use the Bender Ball and watch Leslee Bender!
